Description
Nice, signed b&w 4x6 photo of Carl-August Lanfermann (center), who won the KC on 10/27/43, while serving as Oberleutnant & leading engineer on U-181, under Wolfgang Luth. He was one of the most determined & experienced engineers of the U-Boat arm. He was with Luth on U-181 when he made the 2nd longest patrol in U-Boat history...206 days at sea from March to Oct 1943. Nine ships were sunk on this patrol. His KC was received directly from Grossadmiral Donitz, after Luth submitted his recommendation.
Great shot with a nice bold original sig !
