    Description

Lot of 2 Vintage Fire Alarm Bells
This is a lot of 2 vintage fire alarm bells. Before the invention of smoke alarms, these bells alerted a person if there was
a fire. When actuator spring is heated, it expands and comes in contact with metal arm which causes the bell to ring. Items are made of metal with a brass finish. Both bells have tarnish, grime and scratches. One bell appears cleaner that the other. Bells still ring when metal arm is depressed.
Bells can be hand wound. I do not know if actuator spring works when heat is applied to it. Metal plate has two holes for mounting bell assembly. Mounting screws not included. On the back is imprinted
Manufactured by ELMAC Incorporated, Seymour, Conn.
    and
    Soots Guard.
There is also a patent number, but it is very difficult to read.
