Description
This is one and a half issues of the German propaganda newspaper, 'O.K. - The Overseas Kid"... also known as "O.K. Kid'. It was printed in Berlin for distribution to Allied POWs.My father was a B-17 pilot flying out of England in 1943 and was shot down over Bremen in November of that year. He and his crew spent the next 18 months in German POW camps. My father was in Stalag Luft I. (If you are interested in more details of his story, you can find them on my wordpress blog, "aboxofoldletters" and particularly in the story, "Watching Hogan's Heroes with my Dad"... both blog name and the story name can be google searched.
These two items came back from Stalag Luft I with my father when he returned to the States in July of 1945.
The June 11, 1944 issue is just one page the second page has been removed and the remaining page slightly trimmed (see photos). It covers the allied invasion from the German perspective. As I said in the condition description, I assume my father only saved the part of this issue that was important to him.
The November 26, 1944 is intact.
As I understand it, these papers did not have large printing runs... there would often be one issue per barracks...
