Vintage Mystery Brass Vessel Spittoon Wedding Vase Bowl Dish Pot Storage Holder

Vintage Brass item. No clue what it is or what purpose it serves. Doesn’t stand on its own so wouldn’t make a good candle holder. I thought maybe spittoon but don’t know why there would be 2 openings.  Reminds me a bit of a Navajo wedding vase.
