Description
This sale features a .00 Federal Reserve Note. This bill is denoted as series 1934-A and was printed for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, CA (letter “L”).During World War II, the government issued currency with a brown seal for Hawai’i distribution (and currency with a yellow seal for North Africa distribution). The idea was that if these areas fell into enemy hands during the war, the money could be easily identified and cancelled so as to prevent large monetary losses.
The Pictures shown - serial number L 89910997 A - are of the exact item you will receive.
This note from the 1934-A series has moderate rounding and wear on all 4 corners. There are 3 heavy vertical creases, a heavy horizontal crease through the middle, and lesser creases, folds, and wrinkles throughout. The bill is discolored from its use over the years, with extra dark staining - an area smaller than the brown seal - in the back left margin. Also there is some ink loss on the back, especially noticeable on the “HAWAII” overprint. The edges are rough with multiple notches and tears; the worst is a v-shaped notch at the bottom center that extends into a tear nearly halfway up the bill (see final picture). There are 4 pinholes visible when the bull is held up to light. Beyond these imperfections, you have a decent old note with a bold brown seal.
The bill will be shipped FREE by USPS First Class Mail in a protective plastic sleeve, surrounded by cardboard for extra protection.
Good Luck and happy bidding!
